HERITAGE HOUSES AND HISTORICAL ANCESTRAL HOUSES IN MALOLOS CITY
Here are several of the heritage / ancestral houses in Malolos City, Bulacan.
Alberta Uitangcoy-Santos House (also Museo ng Kababaihan ng Malolos)
Built in 1914 (replacement of an earlier house destroyed by fire). It is most well known for its connection to the Women of Malolos, a group of young women (mestizo / sangley background) who in 1888 petitioned the Spanish Governor-General to allow them to study Spanish. Their action was symbolic of women’s rights and reform movements under colonial rule.
Declared a national heritage house by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines. It serves as a museum, educating people about women’s role in Philippine history.
Don Jose Bautista Ancestral House
Originally built in the mid-19th century (around 1855). Later renovations were done, especially in 1877. It served as the Secretaría de Fomento during the First Philippine Republic. It was visited by José Rizal (1892) and other reformist figures.
Dr. Luis Santos House
Built in 1932. Considered one of the finest Art Deco residences in the country. A symbol of the wealthy and cultural elite in Malolos during the interwar period, especially families involved in medicine, art, politics.
Lino and Maria Reyes House
Former office of Apolinario Mabini when he was adviser; part of the cluster of ancestral homes along Pariancillo / Santo Niño.
Fausto Chiong House
Once used as the Secretaría de Interior in the Malolos Republic.
Adriano House (Gobierno Militar de la Plaza)
Historically used as Gobierno Militar de la Plaza during revolution period.
Hermogenes Reyes House
Built in 1904. One of the heritage homes in that corridor.
Don Ramon Gonzales de Leon House
Built in 1923; owned by a member of a prominent family. Sometimes cited in discussions of heritage houses.
Santos-Bautista House
Built by Rufina Capistrano Santos and Jose A. Bautista. It is across from the Santos-Tantoco House.
Santos-Tantoco House
Next to the Santos-Bautista House; belonging to the Tantoco family, with historical architecture and family lineage.
Aldaba House (1915)
House of the Aldaba family; recognized in heritage house lists / blog mentions as part of the heritage fabric of that area.
